Eric completed his PhD At the University of Connecticut, 2024, with a dissertation focused on the intersection between philosophy of technology, philosophy of language, and social-political philosophy. Specifically, his research work has been focused on those philosophical mechanisms present in online radicalization and extremism. Along the way, he also received a coursework Masters degree that included seminars on africana philosophy and phenomenology to better analyze the user experience in hostile online environments and the resulting ideologies.

Previously, he received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and a Masters degree from the University of Chicago, both of which focused on philosophy of language, formal logic, and the history of analytic philosophy.

Eric is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and fellow at the Center for the Future of AI, Mind & Society (AIMS) at Florida Atlantic University. This project has him working with social psychologists to determine how users experience automated systems, chat-bots, and politically charged content.

He also has research interests in the philosophy and aesthetics of punk-rock and related sub-cultures, and the history and theory of radical political ideologies — especially anarchism and labor movements.
